What does residential painting cover?
Residential painting covers the inside and outside surfaces of a home: walls, ceilings and the preparation that goes underneath them. We work on apartments, villas and independent houses, whether the place is brand new, due a repaint, or being handed over to a tenant. Every job starts with a free inspection of the walls.
Where are you starting from?
Most homeowners come to us with a situation, not a service in mind. Find yours below and we will point you at the right page.
The house is new and has never been painted
Fresh plaster behaves nothing like an old wall. It needs time to dry, the right primer and full putty before any colour goes on.
It looks tired and I want it refreshed
A repaint is the most common job we do. What it costs comes down almost entirely to what we find under the old coat.
Paint is peeling, bubbling or coming away
That is a preparation or a moisture problem, not a paint problem. Painting straight over it buys you a few months at most.
I am handing the property to a tenant or buyer
Handover painting is about an even, clean finish on a date you can rely on, with the place left spotless.
I cannot picture the colour on my own walls
Nobody can, from a shade card. We put samples up and look at them in your light before you commit.

How we work
Working in an occupied home
Room by room, so you keep living there
We work through the house in sections instead of emptying it. The rest of the home stays usable the whole time.
Furniture and floors covered before anything starts
Heavy items get moved to the centre of the room and wrapped, floors are sheeted, and the skirting, switches and frames are masked.
Dust kept down, not just swept up afterwards
Sanding is the dusty part. We contain it, and we clean up at the end of every working day rather than saving it all for the end.
Odour and drying planned around your household
We will tell you which rooms need airing and how long before the furniture goes back, so you can plan around children, older family members and pets.
One supervisor you can talk to
One person is responsible for the site, the schedule and anything you are not happy with.
Residential Painting — your questions.
Do we need to move out while the house is painted?
Usually not. We work room by room so the rest of the house stays usable, and we cover and mask each area before we start. If one stage needs a space completely empty, like a full floor coating or work with a strong smell, we tell you at the quotation stage so you can plan around it.
Do you move the furniture?
We move furniture to the middle of the room and cover it. Very heavy items, anything fragile, electronics and anything you would hate to see damaged are better moved by you before we arrive, and we will tell you exactly what to clear at the inspection.
How long before the smell goes and we can use the room?
It depends on the product and how well the room airs out. Water-based emulsions clear much faster than enamels and solvent-based finishes. We will tell you what we are recommending and what to expect, and we try to finish bedrooms early in the schedule where we can.
There are cracks in the wall. Will paint cover them?
Not for long. Fine hairline cracks in the surface can be filled and levelled. Cracks that run deeper, keep coming back, or follow a structural line have to be opened up, treated and rebuilt before painting, or they just work their way back through the new coat. We tell them apart at the inspection.
Is the paint safe around children and pets?
We can specify low-odour, low-VOC emulsions where that matters to you, and we will be straight about which products do and do not suit a home with small children or animals. Raise it at the inspection and we will build the specification around it.
